About the author

Growing up, JOAN DiCICCO loved reading biographies and was inspired by other people’s stories. She was drawn to Garrett Morgan’s story after seeing him described in an anthology of African-American inventors as the only “hero-inventor” among them.

When not writing, Joan is most likely browsing bookstores and antique shops or intercepting dog-walkers for her daily dose of puppy love.
A long-time resident of Portland, Oregon, Joan has recently returned to her native New England. She and her husband live in Exeter, New Hampshire.
